I watched the 1968 film 'The Producers' today, good film. It was really funny and I was surprised at how insane it was, especially for 1968. It stars Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder. The funniest part of the movie for me was when this character Lorenzo St. DuBois (aka LSD) sang the song "Love Power", it's so messed up.

Here is a link to the actual song 'Love Power', take a listen, it's funny: http://www.moviequotequiz.com/othersounds/LovePower.wav

Dick Shawn who played LSD

Here is part of the song "Love Power" sang in the movie:

Love, Love Power
I'm talking about, Love Power
The power of a, little flower

You don't think about the little flowers
On no, all you think about is guns
If everybody in the world today had a flower instead of a gun
There would be no wars
There would be one big smell-in.

Other strange movies I just saw were Psych Out and The Trip, also from 1968, two very interesting films. Jack Nicholson wrote The Trip and stars in Psych Out, he plays a character called "Stoney" haha, he's such a hippie. They're funny if not informative.

Jack Nicholson as Stoney in Psych Out

Something silly, something political

It's creative and it's silly, listen:
http://pattonoswalt.com/spew2005/121505/ChipmunksMash-Up.mp3

I'm sure some of you know this already, but I really want to rant right now:

Capitalism is good for poverty according to capitalism.org. I don't agree with that theory, do you agree with it? You can read about it here: http://www.capitalism.org/faq/poverty.htm

What do you think is more important, profit or people? I think this quote from capitalist.org answers which is more important to capitalists:

"Is the fact that one is poor, a justification to rob the rich? That a man does not have riches and another does, is no excuse for the first to rob the latter -- neither is it a moral justification for the state to rob the first for the benefit of the latter."

Capitalism can't survive without poverty (and you don't need to take an economics course to figure this out, you can easily find this information on the Internet). As I've come to know it, capitalism sustains poverty because without a poor population, you have a confident and healthy working class population. A healthy working class population will demand higher wages, which means less profits for the business class, so capitalists can't let that happen, at least not for long.

This may lead you to ask "..wouldn't a healthy working class be good for economic growth?"

Sure, but not if you're at the top of the business class ladder, you wouldn't be stinking rich anymore. When there is a lot of economic growth in a capitalist government, the middle class gets bigger and wages go up, which means profits go down for the business class, as I've said. The capitalists won't let this happen for long. So to get the capitalist agenda back on track and keep the poverty level up, a big economic downfall is needed, be it a stock market crash via high interest rates OR a big ol' expensive WAR!! That's right, a war. The weapons and defense needed for a war cost America a lot of money, also, people dying cost money, aid cost money, war is expensive and people go broke because of it. Guess who suffers most from this war debt? The working class of course, which leads to a poverty increase. There is no better way to make the working class poorer than getting involved in a war. The working class majority will agree with and pay for a war out of fear of terrorism or military threat....hmm, this sounds familiar.

Why am I telling you all this? Because I think you should all know that our capitalist US government is keeping the rich people rich (if not making them richer) and the poor people poor. Capitalism isn't about survival of the fittest, it's about sustaining corporate idealism. We're being forced to play out someone else's plan, someone else's idea of what's right and many people are blind to how it's hurting our freedoms. It's pretty messed up that this is going on, but anyway, so goes my FYI.
